Sub Lt (Dr.) Arif Mohammad, working as an Assistant Professor of Physical Education in the Department of Teacher Training and Non-formal Education (IASE), Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, INDIA. He is commissioned NCC Officer in the Senior Division of Naval wing.  

As far as his educational qualification is concerned, he awarded with Doctorate in Physical Education from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, he has also qualified UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) and awarded with Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). He obtained his Bachelor (B.P.Ed.) and Master (M.P.Ed.) degrees with Second Position in the College, from Lucknow Christian P.G. College, Lucknow a pioneer institute of physical education in India. He is also having 3 months ‘Certificate in Yog’ from Lucknow University, Lucknow.

His area of research includes varied domains of Physical Education, special thrust on sports biomechanics, test & measurement, sports psychology, ICT in education, health education and anthropometry.

He got published more than 50 research papers, including 47 papers published in the international journals of various countries such as U.K., U.S.A., South Africa, Romania, Malaysia, Egypt, Turkey. Apart from this he has also presented 32 papers in International and National level seminars and conferences. His articles are also published on leading news portals.

Dr. Arif has written 4 chapters for the Text Book of “Physical Education and Yog” published by National Institute of Open Schooling, Govt. of India; and 2 Chapters for Central Board of School Education (CBSE) for Physical Education’s 11^th and 12^th classes.

He is also recorded video tutorials for NIOS on the text book of “Physical Education and Yog” chapters which is available on the official YouTube channel of NIOS.

He has also participated in numerous workshops and in-service training programs organized in different parts of India.

He is successfully supervised 4 PhDs and at present 4 Ph.D. Scholars are working on their thesis under his supervision.

He is also acted as Resource Person as well as chaired the scientific sessions in the national level workshop and seminars, as well as contributed in the organising of such programs for the department and faculty.

Further, he is the Editor of an International journal of physical education namely “Journal of Physical Education Research”. Additionally, he is also the member of advisory and editorial board of various leading international and national journals of physical educations.

He also completed a project awarded by MHRD, New Delhi under the scheme of PMMMNMTT.

He has a rich experience of organizing seminars and workshops, he has organized one Faculty Development Programme on ‘Research Writing Skills in Higher Education’ in collaboration with School of Education, Faculty of Education, JMI.

He also organized one ICSSR Sponsored National Seminar on the theme Bharat: Vishva Guru in Yoga Education.

Besides these he is also holding various administrative responsibilities in the university, few are as - Deputy Coordinator, NOIS Study Centre; Associate NCC Officer, Senior Division Navy, and President - Hockey Club of JMI. Previously he also served as Warden, International Boys Hostel and Warden, Hall of Residents, JMI.
