In compliance with the mandate of New Education Policy(NEP), 2020 and implementation of the UGC (Promotion of Equity in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2012, Jamia Millia Islamia has adopted an Equal Opportunity Policy and Established an Equal Opportunity Cell(EOC) in the University to ensure the effective and transparent redressal of grievances of the Disadvantaged Groups. The Equal Opportunity Cell also subsumed SC/ST Cell in the university shall ensure an equal, inclusive, non-discriminatory and unbiased opportunity to the students and teaching and non-teaching staff members belonging to the Disadvantaged Groups such as Scheduled Castes(SCs); Scheduled Tribes(STs); Other Backward Classes(OBCs); Women; Minorities; Differently Abled Persons etc. Equal Opportunity Cell shall function as an independent body and shall ensure the protection of the constitutionally guaranteed rights, dignity, safety, and security of all individuals belonging to the Disadvantaged Groups and also ensure them equalizing access and opportunities to pursue higher education in the university and their upliftment in the society.
