Brief Profile

Professor (Dr.) Ghulam Yazdani is presently working as a Professor at the Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He started his career in 1996 as Lecturer in Law at M.D. University, Rohtak.  In 2001, he was appointed as Lecturer in Law at MMH Degree College, Ghaziabad through Government of U.P. Higher Education Commission. His Areas of interest include Personal Laws, Human Rights, Environmental Laws, Cyber Laws, Islamic and Hindu Jurisprudence. He received his Ph.D. Doctoral Degree from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.  He has the teaching and research experience of more than 28 years. He is well-known for his Academic writings on Cyber Law, Personal Laws, Human Rights and Hindu Jurisprudence. He has written various chapters in different books and published more than 60 research papers and articles in numerous reputed National and International Journals including books on contemporary socio-legal issues. One of his papers on International Human Rights Law on Women was published in the Year Book of Human Rights. He is also an academic advisor for the Indian Journal of Law and Public Policy. He has participated and presented research papers in various national & international Seminars, conferences, and workshops.

He is presently working as a Principal Investigator in a Project title: “The Issue of Access to Copyright Works for VIPs and the Response of the State and Central Universities of Delhi: A Critical Study”, funded by-The Inter University Centre for Intellectual Property Right Studies (IUCIPRS), Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala.

He has been appointed as Dy. Dean’s Students Welfare (Dy. DSW) w.e.f. November, 2024. Before that he served as Asst. Dean’s Students Welfare (Asst. DSW) since 2019. He has also been appointed as Nodal Officer of Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi for The UGC E-Samadhan Portal for the Students’ Grievance Redressal. He was elected Member of the Academic Council of JMI for consecutive two terms. He was also appointed by the Vice-Chancellor as a member of the Act, Statutes and Ordinance Committee for the 2^nd time.

He has also worked as a Nodal Officer of IQAC for the Faculty of Law in the University, for both the NAAC and NIRF MHRD, Govt. of India. He has been Associated as a subject expert in State Public Service Commissions and Member in various Academic Council, selection Committees, BOS including Research Committees in various Universities and Colleges. He was also associated with Bar Council of India, New Delhi for more than a decade and half in the capacity of academic expert member in BCI Inspection team. He has also participated in various discussions and delivered talks on socio-legal issues broadcasted by All India Radio which accounted for more than 60 in number including the privilege of anchoring the same as well.
