The Animation course was started as a Postgraduate Diploma in 2007. This was converted into a Master's Degree Course from 2013.

This is a specialized course that will allow the student to develop the personal traits and skills to explore career paths in Visual Effects and Animation. This course provides learning opportunities for students to imagine, visualize, and tell a story. Students will be trained to draw, shoot stills and video and use Industry standard software packages like Maya, After Effects and Flash. However, the focus is on original content and animation skills not software certification.

This course endeavors to create professional communicators who can make effective and strategic interventions in various processes related to the animation and visual effects industry. Industry standards in software and production are established and expected, while students direct their own learning experience during projects derived from their creativity and personal interest.

Students are taught the practice of Animation and Visual Effects through a series of assignments and projects where they are mentored by faculty and working professionals. This course insists on individual assignments from students that evolve into their unique and personal portfolios. In the second, third and fourth semesters, students get the opportunity to make an individual production enabling them to graduate with three distinct and unique pieces of work. Previous students have made short films, games and graphic novels.
